BUNNY SUPPLIES

We often have people ask what supplies we recommend when they’re preparing to bring home their new bunny so I’ve created Amazon lists with some options that might be helpful. Full disclosure they’re affiliate links so when you shop through them I receive a small commission. It doesn’t cost you any extra so if you’re considering purchasing any of these items through Amazon it’s much appreciated if you take the time to use my links. Thank you. ❤️

HOUSING

There’s a lot of options and opinions out there when it comes to rabbit housing, so I recommend doing your research to decide what will be best for your family & bunny. In my opinion even free roam bunnies should have some kind of a hutch or pen as a safe home base for when they aren’t supervised to keep them safe. My preference for pet bunnies is a hutch with x-pen attached. Pinterest is also full of great ideas.

EXERCISE PENS

These are great for a safe indoor our outdoor play space for your bunny.

FEEDERS AND WATERERS

Our prefer is water bottles & hanging feeders so we can easily place them above bunnies litter box to encourage litter training. If you choose to go with bowls make sure they’re heavy enough bunny can’t easily tip them.

TOYS

Bunnies are like puppies where if they don’t have things to chew on and play with they will chew on things they shouldn’t instead. They need things to chew on for their dental health, and to play with so they aren’t bored. Also as prey animals it’s a good idea to have some hideaway type toys as well.

GROOMING AND FIRST AID

As far as bunnies go Holland Lops are pretty low maintenance. They do however need their nails trimmed every month or two so they don’t get overgrown and they need brushed especially when moulting. They are self cleaning but unlike cats they can’t cough up hairballs and have sensitive digestive systems so we don’t want them ingesting too much hair grooming themselves. It’s also a good idea to have a bunny first aid kit on hand including things like critical care and infant gas drops in case of emergency to help buy a little time to get them to a vet.

LITTER BOXES

Again there’s a few options here, we choose bunny corner litter boxes with a grid for inside hutches but medium sized cat litter boxes for our runs. We like to use wood pellet bedding as litter material in our litter boxes.

TREATS AND FEED

Full transparency, we source local feed and hay which I highly recommend if you can. It’s fresh and great quality, but also sold in larger quantities so if that’s not an option for you these are also great options.
