Why are your bunnies so expensive?

I started answering this in our FAQ post but it got a little long winded & I decided it could be a post on its own.

Our Holland Lops are usually priced from $100-$300 based on quality and colour, we sometimes let our bunnies go to approved breeding homes and they might be a bit more with pedigree & breeding rights. They are hand raised from day 1, and have litter training experience. Our bunnies enclosures all exceed ARBA standards for size requirements and we have indoor and outdoor play areas for them on our farm. We spend lots of time daily caring for & socializing them. On top of that we've invested a lot in buying our high quality bunnies.

For us it's a hobby and labour of love. We do it because we fell in love these animals and want to breed good quality, friendly pets for your family, that won't be abandoned. Also, to cover a portion of our bunnies housing, feed, toys, and other supplies, and so far I haven't broken even on those. (although I hope to one day) However, even if we did break even on those the amount per bunny vs the amount of time we put into them wouldn't come close to minimum wage. We spend a lot of time with our bunnies and socializing them because we want them to be great pets for you.

We only plan on each of our does having maybe 3 litters max. a year each and sadly pregnancies don't always take and babies aren't always born alive. Does are only pregnant 31 days so if you do the math if we really wanted to make more money we could have a lot more litters annually, however we want a good quality of life for our bunnies (the mama buns are my pets!), we want to have time to spend socializing each bunny, and we want to make sure we never have more bunnies than we can properly house and care for if they didn't sell right when ready to go.

I also send new bunny owners home prepared with a care guide and peace of mind knowing if something comes up they can text or email me. I'm happy to answer questions and help where I can even after they take their bunny home.
